At times, you might find yourself feeling emotionally drained, overwhelmed, or even detached from the very compassion that once fueled your passion to be a helper. This is what we call "compassion fatigue". In this workshop, we'll guide you through real-life scenarios and exercises that illustrate the concept of compassion fatigue. Amanda Rocheleau, BSW, MSW, RSW Amanda is a Registered Social Worker and Compassion Fatigue Specialist based in Ontario. With nearly 20 years of experience in the field and a bachelor's and master's degree in Social Work from Carleton University in Ottawa, Amanda has developed a deep understanding of the challenges faced by helping professionals within healthcare, social services, education, and public service settings. As the founder of her own private practice, Amanda offers counselling and consulting services to support helping professionals and organizations in reducing the risk for psychological injuries. Her practical delivery approach has been well-received by over 600 professional and conference groups across Canada, where she has been featured as a speaker and trainer on positive workplace practices and personal well-being. To further support helping professionals, Amanda has created workshops, online courses, workbooks, and a podcast, all specifically designed to help individuals and organizations build resilience, prevent burnout, and promote well-being.
Cyndi Owen, T.S. Cyndi Owen is a licensed and professional social worker. With fifteen years of experience in health and social services, Cyndi has worked in community organizations, Department of Youth Protection, elementary, high schools and university as a counselor. Cyndi also created and taught the new Special Care Counselling program in Gatineau, Qc.
